Advertising Techniques 2

Create a Character
This technique adds interest to your advert and creates a story for the audience to follow, which keeps them watching the advert. It could be an actor playing someone, an animated character or someone who is real, either dead or alive and is a bit of an icon. The character needs to be interesting to keep the audience hooked on the advert and must have different characteristics of normal people to be more exciting. The character helps sell the product better because it shows that the product stands out from the rest because the character does.



The Compare the Meerkat adverts created the character of the Meerkat who is different to a lot of characters and has unusual characteristics to keep the audience interested in him and the product that is being advertised.
